On October 4, 2015, Sugar Felsenthal Grais & Hammer LLP announced that Jonathan Friedland and Lisa Vandesteeg have joined its corporate restructuring and creditor’s rights practice as partners. Friedland is a former partner of Kirkland & Ellis LLP and a protégé of Jamie Sprayregen with whom he taught a popular course on strategic management at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business for several years. He came to prominence in recent years as one of the country’s leading experts regarding out-of-court financial restructurings. Vandesteeg, recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer since 2011, concentrates her practice in the areas of bankruptcy, commercial litigation, and data security. She is a lead author of the popular treatise, Commercial Bankruptcy Litigation.
