Richard Sugar publishes “PPP Loan Forgiveness Rulebook Outline – First Edition” to help business owners get a jump-start on planning for PPP loan forgiveness

Many entrepreneurs who have successfully received PPP loans have been struggling with the process of how to claim loan “forgiveness.” The statute is quite complex, and it was drafted much like the tax code: with general rules, exceptions, and exceptions to the exceptions. SFGH’s Richard Sugar prepared an outline to help business owners and their advisors get a jump-start on planning for the ultimate request for forgiveness. Richard calls his outline the “First Edition” because much of the PPP loan forgiveness rules will depend upon future regulatory guidance that has not yet been fully rolled out. But in the meantime, Richard fills in the blanks by inferring what Congress intended in his must-have Rulebook.
