Matthew Schiff and Kathryn Nadro publish article in American Bar Association
The Spring 2016 issue of The Tort Trial Insurance Committee News - Employment Law & Litigation features an article by Matthew Schiff and Kathryn Nadro entitled, "Multiyear Public Sector Collective Bargaining Agreements following Illinois v. AFSCME". In the article Matthew Schiff and Kathryn Nadro discuss the recently issued decision of the Illinois Supreme Court in favor of the State of Illinois in a case that could have a profound impact on contractual relationships between public-sector unions and governmental contracting parties. In Illinois V. American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Council 31, 2016 IL 118422 (march 24, 2016), the Illinois Supreme Court held that the failure of the state legislature, the General Assembly, to appropriate sufficient funds for contractual annual wage increases essentially voided the obligation.
