Advantages of Gainsharing for Medical Device Firms
Recent Office of Inspector General opinions allowed certain gainsharing arrangements to proceed. This presentation discussed the history of the prohibition on gainsharing arrangements, the reasons for OIG revisiting its position on these arrangements, the features of the gainsharing programs that caused the OIG to permit the specific arrangements it reviewed (and thus guide the formation of new gainsharing programs). This presentation also discussed greater opportunities that gainsharing arrangements may provide medical device firms and guidelines for dealing with such programs.
